The Rose Garden

Last weekend the parents and I headed out to the second to last open weekend of the Rose Garden. It's just a little cottage with a beautiful garden that has many different flowers along with 200 or so kinds of roses that they press and make rose oil out of. The rain we had recently killed a lot of the flowers so next year we'll have to come earlier in the spring. It smelled wonderful though!

Tuesday Health Update

I'm back! 

Thank you so much to the sweet friends that emailed me and left comments that made me feel so much better! 

My body is feeling much better after starting antibiotics (a different kind as the first one made me feel so sick) and Prednisone. My doctor thinks that I did indeed have another lymphatic infection (this time on both sides of my neck, deep under the skin). She showed me the where the swelling showed on the CT scan. 

I had to go in to the doctor as I was getting this weird disappearing rash all over my hands. It would come and be bright and itchy and then would be completely gone 10 minutes later. I thought it was the antibiotics that I'd been put on in the ER but then realized that I'd had the rash up and down my arms for around 10 minutes while I was in the ER waiting room even before I'd been on the medications.

It turns out I'm allergic to Tegretol! Gaah! The last anti-seizure medication in the "plan of action" from the neurologist is Keppra so I'll probably be put on it at my next neurology appointment - even though thats the one with the most proven bad side effects.

So I am feeling better than I was (and can even turn my neck!) but my body is still really out of it and I now have to deal with the affects of being on no more anti-seizure medications - or any other headache medication for that matter!

My face is also normal size again and not swollen like it was in this picture.

As I once again cross my fingers for some answers I can only wish that hopefully it'll all get sorted out really soon!

(P.S. I promise to put up new pictures that I've taken as soon as I can find the USB cord for my Cannon that seems to disappeared for the time being!)

My Dance Final and My Trip to the Emergency Room

So I performed my one minute solo-self choreographed for my Modern dance class on  Wednesday. This is a video (off the TV playback-sorry about the lines on the video-they go away while it's playing)

I was supposed to perform the corrected form of the dance yesterday as well but due to the fact that I couldn't move my head, this version of the dance was graded instead.

I had an acupuncture appointment that I went to yesterday at around 2:30pm and was turned away as I had a temperature of 102.6 and a pulse of 130. 

After calling the Kaiser advice nurse I was sent off to the Emergency Room with symptoms of the abnormal vital signs (fever and pulse) and not being able to turn my head at all. I also felt as though when I was walking, that my body was disconnected and not real.

I was there from 3pm until 9pm (although until 4:30 I was just in the waiting room).

They got my fever and pulse down by pumping me with Morphine, Phennergan, Naproxin and Tylonol. They also did a CT scan on my neck but found nothing.

They still don't know what's wrong with my neck (I can't bend down, move or turn my head-even blowing my nose kills my neck) but because the vital signs were back to normal (apparently I have a UTI  [urinary tract infection] which they think was causing the abnormalities) they allowed me to come home.

(Along with a round of antibiotics and a prescription for Percecet.)

 

Unfortunately the 102.6 fever came back again today. Hopefully It'll go away soon!

Because of my trip to the ER, I missed a final for my American Sign Language class. My sister brought my teacher a note saying why I wasn't there.

Unfortunately I can't get ahold of him now. He's deaf so I can't call him and his email address has sent me 2 failure to deliver/wrong email address so I'm at a loss of what to do now!

I also tried calling admissions and records but they just suggested I call or email him! Ugh! I finally got the phone number for the woman in charge of the building where the class takes place but she didn't pick up. I also was given an email address (no idea who it's for though) so I emailed the problem to the unknown person.

I'm really hoping this all gets figured out soon! I'm supposed to have completed all my finals by the class period I had tonight!

The finale was wonderful and as always I loved watching how incredible everyone looked. I was especially impressed by how great Mike looked. Though I'm disappointed that Helen won instead of Tara (who's been my favorite since day one) I was inspired by the amount of weight that had been lost and the new found happiness on all (okay, most) of their smiling (now thin) faces.

Last weekend the family went to the Castello di Amorosa Winery which is literally a castle. It was beautiful with wonderful detailing! It was even one of the locations that the Disney Movie "Bedtime Stories" was filmed (which I still have yet to see) and part of the set is out front.
